Trust and security issues in integrated circuit design
MetadataShow full item record
Rapid developments in the areas of semiconductor fabrication and integrated circuit design over the past few decades has led to a competitive market for industries in those areas. In order to attain a larger share of the market, participating corporations have come up with new business models. The primary resemblance among almost all these models is their reliance on vertical disintegration. Vertical disintegration has been achieved mostly through design outsourcing from one end, and fabrication o shoring and outsourcing from the other. This article shows that design outsourcing, although proven financially effi cient, suff ers from major vulnerabilities in terms of security.
