The purpose of this thesis is to explore all the major transformations regarding themes and manners of representation the Spanish cinema has experienced during the last decade. This study of three films analyzes three different genres completely different and new within the traditional Spanish cinema of the eighties. The first movie is a political film but with the innovation of being directed from the point of view of a woman. The second movie deals with social cinema and presents an immigrant character as the main protagonist. The third movie is about an American genre and how the director has achieved success in representing Spanish cinema as an industry as well as a business.
