dc.description.abstractThis dissertation details the fabrication process and spectroscopic characterization of erbium doped calcium sulfide as a tool for medical research and treatment. The use of this material in the medical field as a consequence of its upconversion properties is reviewed, and a critical review of its advantages and limitations is given.
