This work will deal with lexical and morphosyntactic examples of linguistic interference that emerge in the Spanish of Valencia and Catalonia. There are numerous studies that focus on the interference that Spanish has over Catalan, but little has been said about the influence of Catalan over Spanish. One study shows that the influence of Catalan on the Spanish spoken in Catalonia is minimal. This present work seeks to demonstrate through different examples that the Spanish spoken in Valencia is strongly influenced by Catalan. Hence, a comparative study will be undertaken in order to analyze how Catalan influences the Spanish spoken in these two regions.
