Employee career development is an essential component to today’s workforce. The purpose of this study is to more closely investigate the career development experiences of minorities and to attempt to answer two questions: 1. Do diverse workers have the same developmental opportunities, as do others given the new career paradigm? 2. How do organizations invest in the career development of workers and are these investments comparable across race? 202 college students participated in a two-part study to examine both promotion decisions as well as organizational investment post-promotion. Results showed that White Males was the most advantaged group across both studies whereas Black Females were the most disadvantaged.
