dc.description.abstractAir pollution studies in Trujillo, Peru (July-August and October-November 2003) and Baguio City, Philippines (December 2003) were conducted to quantify the concentrations of multiple air pollutants. Ambient concentrations of particulate matter d2.5µm in aerodynamic diameter (PM2.5), carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and select volatile organic compounds (VOCs) were collected in Peru and Philippines as well as street-level concentrations of PM, PM and CO in downtown 2.510Baguio City. Multiple regression modeling was done with Filipino street-level pollutant concentrations and environmental variables including traffic intensity, road size, wind, non-automobile pollution sources, building stories and terrain. Traffic intensity was significant with pre-morning rush hour (4:50-6:30am) PM2.5 and PM10 while significant with CO in both morning and afternoon rush hours. Street-level PM2.5 concentrations in Trujillo, Peru is reduced 50% when automobile traffic is removed. Ambient pollution concentrations in both studies were above established PM2.5 limits.
