The Center for Agribusiness and Economic Development (CAED) was requested to provide an economic analysis of the potential for producing ethanol from both sweet and Irish potatoes in Georgia. Potato production, especially sweet potatoes, has declined over the last several years for a variety of reasons. The question posed to the CAED was “Is there enough profit from the production of potato based ethanol to provide a base for increased potato acreage in Georgia?” The following analysis will provide an answer to that question.en_US
